Game Objective

The objective of Mahjong Solitaire is to clear the board of all tiles. You can clear tiles by matching two tiles of the same type. The quicker you clear the tiles the higher the score will be that you accumulate.

This can be tricky, because you have to clear the tiles in the correct order to be able to clean the board.

Matching Tiles

Tiles can only be cleared when they are free.

In order to be free, a tile can only have one or no other tile touching on its left or right hand side. Flower and Season tile can be cleared by matching it to any other tile of the same suite. For example, you can clear a Winter Tile by matching it to a Summer Tile.

Blocked Tiles

If a tile has bordering tiles on both the left and right hand side of it, it is blocked and can't be cleared until one of its bordering tiles is cleared first.

In this example, the four of bamboo tile on the right hand side of the image first have to be cleared, before the dragon tile or the seven of bamboo tile can be cleared.

Scoring

While playing, points will be added for the following actions:

Clearing the board: Points allocated according to time taken
Clear any two tiles: 20 points
For every Undo used: -20 points

Bonus

While playing bonus points will be added / subtracted for the following actions:

Clear any two pairs of tiles within 2 seconds: 20 points
Clear any two pairs of tiles within 4 seconds: 10 points
For every minute that pass: -20 points
For every Hint used: -20 points
